Captain Trenton S. Lennard, Navy, Retired, SAC
Captain Lennard joined the Armed Forces Insurance Board of Directors in July 2026.
Captain Lennard retired from the U.S. Navy after 31 years of service as a Naval Flight Officer operating A-6E and F/A-18F aircraft. During his career, he served in a variety of staff and operational assignments both ashore and at sea. He held leadership roles in multiple strike fighter squadrons, including Executive Officer of Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 101, Commanding Officer of Strike Fighter Squadron ONE FIVE FOUR, Officer in Charge of the Forward Headquarters Task Force IA at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, and Commanding Officer of the Naval ROTC Unit at the University of Kansas. He completed deployments aboard USS George Washington, USS Nimitz, USS John C. Stennis, and USS Ronald Reagan in support of Operations DENY FLIGHT, SOUTHERN WATCH, and IRAQI FREEDOM as well as on the ground supporting Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
After retirement from the military, CAPT Lennard continued to serve as a Command and Leadership Professor at the US Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth. He is the 2026 Civilian Instructor of the Year.
Captain Lennard received a bachelor's degree from Washburn University and a Master of Science in Administration-Leadership degree from Central Michigan University. His military education includes the Command and General Staff Officer Course, O5 and O6 Navy Command courses, and other developmental military schools.
